Assembling the transcript?

    I was wondering how other officials in the state handle this.  When you have a multiple day trial I know that you're supposed to do the transcript in volumes, but are you supposed to number the pages consecutively from day to day or start each new day at page one?  I was reading the manual and it seems confusing.  It says, The pages of the transcript must be consecutively numbered on the bottom of each page.  Begin each volume of a transcript with Page 1.  Any insight would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    I have always numbered my pages from beginning to end and I also number my title pages.

    I number my pages consecutively, beginning to end.  I count my title pages, but don't number them.  Don't know if that's politically correct, but no one has ever questioned it!

    Thank you everyone for the replies.  It seems everyone is doing it the way that I was taught, so that must be the correct way.  Thank you for the input.

    According to the manual, EACH Volume (Volume I of ?) begins with Page 1 (and is so designated at the bottom of the first page) and ends with whatever number of pages you have.  The second day of trial (Volume II of ?) begins with Page 1 and continues to whatever number of pages you have.

    That is the way I read the manual also and that's why I was questioning it.  That wasn't the way that I was taught to do it, and I recently read that in the manual and was wondering which was the correct way.

    Hey, guys, as an FYI, EVERY page of a transcript has to be numbered, INCLUDING the title page.  And every volume - at least produced in court - has to start a new page number.  I know this is not the practice in the freelance field, so we will probably be making an adjustment to the manual to reflect same at the BOR, but because there can be a myriad of reporters on one trial in a courtroom setting, each new volume starts with page 1.
